A Dessert Worth Traveling For

Now I know that this is supposed to be a blog about NYC restaurants, but if you are ever in London or know anyone who is going to London, tell them to go to the HIX Belgravia restaurant (in the Belgraves Hotel, 20 Chesham Place, London SW1) for a mouth-watering dessert called the baked toffee pudding with banana ice cream. It arrives at the table as a plain-looking toffee cake with a scoop of banana ice cream, but then the waiter pours an amazing caramel banana sauce on top–and boom–this very good dessert becomes a sensational one right before your eyes. The caramel sauce sticks to the top of the creamy, banana-flavored ice cream, and has tasty pieces of fresh banana in it that are chunky, soft, and sweet, with a mouth-pleasing texture. When you break open the baked pudding, hot toffee sauce literally spurts out all over the whole plate, making the dish really moist and flavorful.  This dessert is fantastic; I know I will be dreaming about when I’m back in New York…
