A Teen's Guide to the Best Things to Eat and Drink in New York City
Where can you eat in New York City that’s both a positive culinary experience for parents and a good place for kids? That’s the question 16-year-old David Pines, a native New Yorker, set out to answer in his new book: Pines Picks. Escorted by his parents, grandparents, cousin, and/or family friends, David ate his way through dozens of NYC restaurants hunting for the best food in establishments that welcome families but don’t necessarily sport plastic tablecloths and plastic chairs. Places that serve foods ranging from sweet potato pancakes to lobster rolls to dumplings, from the corner deli to the bastion of urban chic.
David describes, in mouthwatering detail, the buttery, spicy, crisp or succulent attributes of the dishes he recommends, their presentation and the ambiance of the restaurant. And he does it all with the comfortable candor of a tenth grader who knows his way around a menu.
